Welcome!

Welcome to BUILD’s flagship region! Established in 1999 in East Palo Alto CA, BUILD is now present at three sites in the Bay Area: East Palo Alto, downtown Oakland and East Oakland. BUILD currently serves 675 students across all sites. By 2014, BUILD intends to double in size and serve more than 1,000 students across the Bay Area. You may ask yourself, why is BUILD needed in the Bay Area? In the Oakland Unified School District, only half of all freshmen will earn a high school diploma. And only 60 percent of African American and Latino students in the Sequoia Union High School District graduate on time.

Each of our sites buzz with young and talented entrepreneurs on any given day. Visit one of our sites—and do not be surprised if our students pitch their business concept to you on the spot!
