Moses Singh has about 17 pairs of sneakers. But these days his favorite by far are the ones he and his classmates have designed for their business project.
Moses and his classmates have spent the entire school year creating Colorful Kicks, tennis shoe line company They have written a 30-page marketing and business plan, completed market research and prepared financial statements.
Today, they will have an opportunity to make their pitch at the Youth Business Plan Competition, going head-to-head with more than 30 other young entrepreneurs to impress a panel of judges and win a chance at receiving start-up funding for their business.

More than 150 people attended the Social Entrepreneurship Day panel, which was sponsored by Stanford Social Innovation Review and the Stanford Graduate School of Business's Center for Social Innovation. The second annual Stanford University event, held February 24, brought a diverse, standing-room-only crowd and featured a lively discussion on ways to fund social enterprises, moderated by Kriss Deiglmeier, Executive Director of the Center for Social Innovation. Panelists included dynamic social sector leaders Jenny Shilling Stein ( Draper Richards Foundation), Jessica Jackley Flannery (Kiva.org), Amy Clark ( Ashoka), and BUILD Founder and CEO, Suzanne McKechnie Klahr.
